About

It started in 1995, the filmmaking bug infected Omar (PG’s founder) while he was creating live action cutscenes for a videogame he was developing for Team17. Filmmaking was more fun than programming, but programming paid the bills, so the bug then lay dormant till 2011.

Now Omar was living in Egypt and working as a journalist. The uprising was in full swing and creativity was bursting at the seams. He met many filmmakers, and working for BBC TV News re-introduced him to visual storytelling.

News was too limiting, but the bug was reinvigorated. So in 2014 he moved to LA for a year. He took screenwriting classes, and worked on student films at CalArts.

In 2015 he moved back to Sheffield and started working in whatever capacity he could in videography and independent filmmaking, to gain a holistic appreciation of the industry. From floor-runner to actor to production manager to director.

And so Perception Gulf was born. First as a hobby, then side-hustle, and now with a dedicated team we’re ready for our next phase.

Scripted fiction that enlightens as well as entertains.
